Designer Notes
Rooted in the spirit of Central Oregon’s landscape, Arête celebrates the connection between people and place. Every design decision—from site planning to unit detailing—was guided by the question of how to bring residents closer to the natural beauty and light of Bend. The project embodies the essence of its name, drawing inspiration from the surrounding biomes that stretch from the lush Willamette Valley to the open expanses of the high desert. Though set within an urban environment, Arête’s concept reinterprets high-density living as an opportunity for immersion in nature—spaces that change with the light, evoke the textures of the land, and foster a lifestyle that balances exploration, community, and reflection.
Arête’s architectural and interior design continue this dialogue between built form and natural context. The exterior’s clean lines and use of natural materials echo the region’s rugged topography, while private decks at each unit create seamless transitions between indoors and out. Inside, 32 one- and two-bedroom residences offer innovative small-living layouts that maximize comfort and flexibility. Four curated palettes—Glacier, Basalt, Sagebrush, and River—each draw inspiration from a distinct Central Oregon climate zone, offering residents a personalized connection to place. Thoughtfully sourced materials, sustainable finishes, and warm, natural light define the interiors, creating timeless, modern spaces that honor the surrounding landscape while anchoring life in one of Bend’s most vibrant neighborhoods.
