A celebration of Central Oregon's volcanic high desert. Cascada Bend is a new thermal spa and hotel where the guest experience progresses through candlelit, cave-like spaces to a series of rooftop pools and a sauna overlooking the desert horizon. Throughout the design, water weaves experiences together, revealing form, softening transitions, and shaping moments.
At ground level guests arrive in softly shaped public spaces where a sculptural restaurant, reception, and lounge area establish an immediate sense of welcome. Private hotel suites are crafted from natural materials and sit alongside thermal pools and saunas that are enclosed, dimly lit and quiet— intentionally designed to evoke the sensation of being held within the earth. These sheltered spa spaces offer complete privacy and withdrawal, a thoughtful contrast to what follows.
At the rooftop, a glass conservatory introduces warmth and humidity uncommon to the high desert—a respite those accustomed to the region's arid climate will especially value. The space is designed for lush plantings and seamless movement between indoor and outdoor bathing, while open air lounge areas and pools offer uninterrupted views west to the Cascade Range: the Three Sisters, Broken Top, and Mount Bachelor. Adjacent to the conservatory, freestanding structures rise to house more hotel suites and spa treatment rooms—a series of private spaces elevated above the roofline that extend the connection to the sky and distant peaks.
The vertical progression from inward to outward, from darkness to light, from enclosure to openness, structures the guest experience and amplifies the connection to the volcanic landscape that defines Central Oregon—a place where thermal waters, geologic time, and a sublime high desert landscape converge.
