Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in travel, style, and food. Hope you have a nice stay!

Riverfold House

Riverfold House

From the beginning, the architecture sought not just to sit within this landscape, but to amplify the experience of it—to deepen awareness of the river’s power, the urban and industrial context just across the water, and the sublime drama of sky and rock.

Designer Notes
Set along a downtown riverfront, urban yet profoundly wild, this family home heightens the sensory qualities of its site while offering privacy from the street. Perched atop a basalt outcrop, its linear form connects every room to the sound and view of the river, while carved courtyards throughout frame spaces for outdoor living. Inside, rooms unfold beneath a continuously sloped roof, with tall, welcoming public areas at the center and more intimately scaled private rooms at either end. The roof echoes the memory of surrounding landforms, tilting and folding to frame the high desert sky. Its material palette is inseparable from place: silvered cedar weathers into the landscape, while interior materials imbue the space with warmth and tactility, creating an atmosphere that feels both natural and approachable. Designed entirely on one level, this home allows its residents to age in place gracefully, embracing each stage of life with ease and comfort.
