David is one of the Northwest’s most talented and innovative architects, passionate about finding new and unique ways to express project purpose through design. He joined Hacker in 1999 and has collaborated on many of the firm’s notable buildings of diverse type, including community-oriented projects like libraries and education buildings, and office and mixed-use high-rise developments. David served five years on Portland’s Design Commission and is a strong advocate for thoughtful development that creates vibrant, human-friendly urban environments.

Driven by a relentless pursuit for design excellence, David’s design leadership ensures consistent and high-quality design firmwide. His vision is to create places that nurture the inherent vitality of people so they can thrive. He realizes this by expanding ways of listening and understanding contributing voices within the design process.
